But such is the joy of film - various interpretations! siochembiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11487373396181856763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4751168318018401735.post-70060063656321823762013-01-15T06:47:56.307-05:002013-01-15T06:47:56.307-05:00Now that I have read your review I can see that we...Now that I have read your review I can see that we came through this film quite differently. I am afraid I am on Chip's side here believing it is just sloppy editing. There are just too many of those glips in the movie.
That said, I wish it was a psycological thriller, that it is a battle taking place in Larry's mind. That would have made a much better movie.

It is indeed an A list cast and possibly why I expected more from The Wolf Man.

TSorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12208153011927807857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4751168318018401735.post-32283043637882511712012-10-29T20:52:10.933-04:002012-10-29T20:52:10.933-04:00I can understand that, I really can (re: the inter...I can understand that, I really can (re: the interpretation), but I am entranced by the POSSIBILITY of it. It's a thing with me - a surefire way to get me more excited about a movie is to point out multiple interpretations that actually make sense.siochembiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11487373396181856763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4751168318018401735.post-24376768073324775002012-10-26T17:15:28.543-04:002012-10-26T17:15:28.543-04:00I do remember thinking that Chaney's character...I do remember thinking that Chaney's character felt like he got a really raw deal in this movie, as compared to the classic monsters in other films.

In regards to the alternate theory on the inconsistencies in the movie, I'm going to use Occam's Razor and say I feel it was just bad editing.Chip Laryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00787403805554027107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4751168318018401735.post-131628153068522822012-10-24T19:54:18.393-04:002012-10-24T19:54:18.393-04:00In terms of individual performances, it would be h...In terms of individual performances, it would be harder for me to choose between Chaney and Karloff, but I think "The Wolf Man" holds together as a film better than "Frankenstein." Part of that simply might be the ten years that Wolf Man has on Frankenstein, and the advances in technology gained in those ten years.

This one was a surprise for me. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did.siochembiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11487373396181856763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4751168318018401735.post-61614681120827619212012-10-24T19:45:40.972-04:002012-10-24T19:45:40.972-04:00While I think I lean more toward Karloff's por...While I think I lean more toward Karloff's portrayal of Frankenstein's monster, I love this film as well. Chaney simply works as an unlucky shlub who suffers from a terrible curse. He, as a guy unable to escape this fate, puts in a great performance.

Tragedy and pathos, indeed!SJHoneywellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13550007053995112090noreply@blogger.com
